According to the World Health Organization, 3.4 million people, mostly children, die annually from water-related diseases, and even greater numbers are hospitalized. Most of these illnesses and deaths can be prevented through access to safe drinking water.
B9 Plastics is a not for profit company dedicated to social and environmental improvement through the use of plastics. Currently, we are working on many solutions which address creating healthy water:
Waiting for “big solutions” while ignoring the immediate needs of the most vulnerable makes no sense. There are small-scale, simple, inexpensive measures and intermediate actions which can be taken to great effect.
The Better Water Maker (BWM):
The Better Water Maker (BWM) uses ultra-violet (UV) light to inactivate E coli and other harmful microbes in water. A manually turned crank generates 12v electricity to power the UV light and pump water through the cylindrical UV light chamber. Water flow is controlled to ensure sufficient exposure to the UV light. An optional AC/DC converter is also available. |
